Being Black

Racism,
One of those forbidden words,
Greatest fear for some,
A representation of our differences,
The beginning of our inferiority.

#Blacklivesmatter,
Been a slogan from long,
Long before I can remember,
Taking it to the streets,
Rendering Covid-19 useless,
Human brutality fatal!
Been through it all,
But do you think it will change?

I tend to think racism will never cease,
Because our differences are clear as day and night!
War, against racism,
A lost war already!

But maybe it is not all bad,
Being black doesn’t mean am inferior,
Not that I am a criminal,
I tend to think it is just but a work of art.
After all,
A magnificent piece is not of a single colour!

To some I will always be a human,
To others an outcast!
So I will embrace being black,
After all it’s a blessing,
A privilege.
I don’t take it lightly that I can walk under equator’s temperature without sunscreen!

So yeah,
To the world I might be inferior,
But in real sense,
I am just but an equal,
It’s not everyday you get magical melanin
Especially with the degrading ozone layer!

What if I live on poverty?
Does it mean it’s the cure for Covid-19?
BBC, have you made the revolutionary discovery yet?
Don’t try to play God,
Projecting outcomes,
They might come back to bite you!

Our differences are not that bad,
But humanity has played God on them,
Trying to prove one is superior to another,
But where has that left you?
Are you happy?
Have you achieved it all?
Have you proven it?
That we are inferior?

Well, let me guess,
You are confused!
After all look at the times!
